When it comes to my beauty regime, I’m pretty lax. I hardly ever get my nails done, my brows are often left to their own devices and I spend more time on my skin with serums and moisturisers than I do painting my actual face.
That’s not to say I don’t like trying out new looks. I’m completely open to trying out new things. But when it comes to make-up for my wedding, I want to look fresh-faced. A dab of colour on my eyes to enhance them, a bit of blush and maybe highlighter just on their brow bones. My absolute nightmare would be to turn up looking like I had applied silly putty to my face and drawn on brows with a permanent marker pen.
How I usually look sans make-up on a sunny day in Texas
And thankfully, it seems that what I want to look like on my wedding day is pretty aligned with what Farfetch call the best beauty looks for SS16. To celebrate the launch of a brand new beauty section, they shared this infographic that highlights the main trends for the season, which is pretty bang on what I’m looking for in terms of direction.
While I may give the eccentric eyes theme a miss and leave and leave the loud lips for the post-wedding party, I can draw inspiration from the other three trends. Dewy post-exercise glow? Yes, please. Au Naturale? Totally. Bold blush? Maybe not but something along those lines. I want to look naturally radiant without having my face plastered with make-up, which hopefully I can achieve if taking these trends as a guide.
As for beauty products, I’ve not treated myself to anything yet but definitely like the look of the Sunday Riley face gel and Eve Lom’s Radiance primer. You know what they say, build a good foundation and the rest will follow. And one glance at the beauty page here will have you reaching for the credit card. There’s some seriously fabulous beauty products on offer – By Terry, Perricone MD, Becca, Sarah Chapman to name a few. Unfortunately, I do not have the luxury of being able to afford them all but I think I will treat myself to one or two things to ensure I glow in the right way on my big day.
