  • Make It A #SimplyRunderful Weekend

The sun may not be shining and it’s certainly going to be a rocky few days but that doesn’t mean you can’t have a Simply Runderful weekend. No, that’s not a spelling mistake or me trying to be clever – #SimplyRunderful is a project put together by two super-fit lasses with the aim of raising money for the Pink Ribbon foundation which helps the fight against cancer.

Not only have this dynamic duo consisting of the gorgeous Marina Ranger and Lucja Leonard  pledged to run across Holland wearing only Runderwear (yes, that’s knickers and bras) to support the cause, they are also kick-starting the campaign by hosting an event in Blackfriars, London, this Saturday.

It promises to be an action-packed afternoon which is exactly what you’d expect from these two. After all, they both completed the Marathon des Sables this year and that is only a glimpse of what they have been up to over the past few years. Honestly, I remember meeting them first at the Berghaus Trail Chase a few years ago and being in awe of all their achievements. Seriously – forget instagram for #Fitspiration, just talk to these two running legends to hear stories of what it’s like to run across the Sahara, jungle, Kahlahari desert, Mongolia and many more far-flung destinations.  And that’s only one reason to attend their event on Saturday.

For alongside meeting Marina and Lucja, you’ll also have the chance to work your body hard, thanks to a workout from the team at Crossfit Blackfriars and take part in a run from the gym just in pink underwear. Unfortunately, I’m not around as I’ll be at a five-year-old’s birthday BBQ up in Norfolk but if I was…well…I’d totally be up for a light power walk (still not running) in a pink sports bra and knickers (I just hope none of my bridesmaids are reading this while planning my hen). In-between all the activity, you’ll also have the chance to meet Victoria from the Cancerkin centre at the Royal Free Hospital. She’ll show you how to check your boobs for any signs of cancer.

The event starts at 2pm so you even get a lie in and there’s a suggested donation of £10, which is the equivalent of three drinks down the pub if you’re lucky. As I say, I’d love to be there but I’ll be playing hide and seek in Norfolk while digging into a vegan feast instead.
