When it comes to beauty gadgets, the Clarisonic Mia Cleansing System is my top choice. I guess the best way to describe this facial cleansing device is as an electric toothbrush for your skin – the bristles automatically rotate to exfoliate and gently clean out your pores. In fact, the constant motion of the soft head helps to boost the circulation of my skin, leaving me with what I think looks like a healthy glow.
I like to think that the Clarisonic could help me in the fight against ageing because I’ve had many facials where the beauty therapist has massaged my skin in a similar way to iron out the creases. I guess only time will tell if this is true.
This handy gadget does come with a cleanser but you can use pretty much what suits your skin type. Apply the cleanser first, wash the bristles with warm water, switch it on and then focus the Clarisonic around the main areas of the face – cheeks, chin and forehead – for around 30 seconds at a time. This will activate the cleanser and allow the Clarisonic to work its magic. Delicate areas like around the eyes are best avoided. Rinse your face twice (I like to do it this way to ensure all the cleanser has been removed) and there you have it; squeaky, clean skin.
The Clarisonic Mia does not come cheap and (like the toothbrush) you have to replace the head after a while. You’ll also need to recharge it as you would do a phone. But considering it can get my dirty mush feeling clean after a day of make-up and grime from the traffic following my cycle to and from work makes it worth the rather high price-tag.
