As everyone starts to prepare to go back after their summer holidays, all I can think about is actually going on holiday. It’s not like I’m ungrateful for August, I mean it’s been one of the warmest of my adult life but what with moving home and all the prep that goes into that, I’m just feeling knackered. I’m not complaining though as I’ve got plenty to be thankful for, including the opportunity to win one of three pairs of gorgeous designer sunglasses from the luxury online designer store Avenue 32.
All I have to do is tell you what my ideal holiday would be and choose a few outfits from Avenue 32. And as it’s such as amazing website (think Heidi Klein, A.P.C, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Carven to name just a few designers), I have absolutely no problem picking out a few pieces to add to my imaginary holiday wardrobe. And as my ideal holiday right now would consist of lazing by the pool, dining out under the stars and a few days of sight-seeing (in fact anywhere with a beach and sunshine would do) I’ve pulled together some key pieces to share with you.
Lazing by the pool
I love reading but never seem to find the time until I go on holiday. So this ideal holiday would consist of lots of time getting lost in the latest literary sensation, re-reading one of my old faves or exploring new discoveries via the written word by the pool. This cute one-piece by Roksanda Ilincic is exactly what I’d need to relax on a lounger, take in some rays and do a couple of lengths in the water. Of course, I’d need a few trips to the cocktail bar so I’d wear this Heidi Klein Linen Soleil Dress over the top to protect my modesty, teamed with these Ancient Greek sandals and a gorgeous Lissy Verkade headscarf to protect my fair hair from sun damage.
On a day sightseeing
Now I’m not one for trousers but I know that in certain hot countries it’s only custom to keep your legs and shoulders covered. I simply fell in love with these Samujo Printed Cotton Penguin trousers – so bright, so vivid, so now. I know that when I went to Sri Lanka back in February, my pyjama-style trousers were perfect for daytime visits to the Buddhist temples. When combined with a simple white tee (this one is from Folk) and a pair of comfy Prism jade Espadrilles, I know that I’ll look cool when the temperatures are rising.
Out for dinner
Now I’m not a huge fan of maxi dresses. They never seem to fit my petite frame and I feel a little bit swamped by the material. This stunning number from Wunderkind, however, caught my eye instantly. Maybe it’s the ruffles, maybe it’s the colour but it just shouts summer holiday. You know, when you feel relaxed and at ease and willing to try something different. I’d opt for a simple pair of flat sandals and splashes of gold jewellery such as these amazing Art Deco-ish earrings and Origami bracelet both by Gillian Steinhardt to complement my tan. And of course this Anndra Neen clutch to add that all-important finishing touch.
There you have it, my ideal outfits for my ideal holiday – I guess I’ll just have to wait until it actually happens (sigh).
