It’s April which only means one thing if you’re a runner – spring marathon time. That is if you’re fit, healthy and have been lucky enough to get a place in these annual events that brings life to the city especially our capital city. Whether you love it or hate it, the reason the London Marathon is so popular is down to the friendliness and support from the crowds. It’s not the best way to see the city and the course is rather dull when you hit no man’s land (Canary Wharf) but the mass of people and spirit of the runners can pull you through it all. No wonder so many people hanker after a place.
If you were unsuccessful in the infamous ballot and are filled with runners’ envy right now, then hold tight as The North Face community Never Stop London have come up with their own version of the 26.2-mile race.
Following on from their successful launch of Mountain Athletics, which saw the outdoors company bring a brand new line of running/adventure clothing to the market (and yes, I have my eye on a pair of leggings to wear when I’m finally out of these ruddy Storm Trooper boot) alongside a weekly Mountain Athletics class that certainly was one of the highlights of my week when I could stand on two legs, the North Face community “Never Stop London” are doing their own challenging “Never Stop Mara
And to someone who not only loves running but also like a bit of adventure, this monthly challenge running throughout April sounds extremely appealing. I’m a shade of emerald just reading about it.
All you have to do is complete four of the Tuesday Mountain Athletics classes (they run from The North Face store on Regent’s Street – sign up here https://www.facebook.com/neverstoplondon), join in on a trail run with Trailscape and take part in one of the social climbing sessions on offer. Then show off all your hard work by tagging your pictures with #neverstopmarathon on Instagram or Facebook to earn yourself a very fetching #neverstopmarathon patch. And let’s just say, it’s an interesting and innovative way to do the equivalent of 26.2 miles.
I for one will be cheering you on from the sidelines.
