No, I have not come up with a new word game or riddle because I prefer to leave that to the experts. What I’m talking about is a new brand of eco eyewear called PLAYN, which will be available from Thursday until 30 July 2013 at the Boxpark Shoreditch.
Launched last year as the home of pop-ups, the Boxpark initially offered a solution to brands, who want to sell their wares to the hipsters of East London without the costly overheads. Now the home to more permanent fixtures of “mega labels” such as Nike, Puma and Vans, you’d think it would have lost its appeal to more independent brands.
Thankfully, this is not the case and real pop-ups continue to spring up from time to time. Fans of The Apprentice will recognise the Boxpark in the market stall task. And it is with this spirit of independence that the company CouCo is launching a pop-up store on 25 July 2013. Co-founded by two cousins from Munich, Tess and Lisa, CouCo act as a platform to showcase sustainable boutique brands via pop-up stores and events. Luckily for us, they will be showing off the cool eyewear brand PLAYN for a week at the Boxpark Shoreditch.
Now as a speccy wearer myself, PLAYN’s concept of creating bespoke (yes, that means made for you the last time I looked) designer eyewear definitely gets my vote. I’m not a huge fan of wearing glasses but needs must when you spend a good time of your day staring at a computer screen. I wear contacts but my eyes tend to dry out. I’ve even had a consultation about laser surgery, only to find out that my eyes are the wrong shape. It seems that glasses are the only way forward for me. And from the pics on their Facebook page, it seems that this eco-friendly may have just what I’ve been looking for.
So why not join me at CouCo’s PLAYN boutique at the Boxpark Shoreditch? Mention “The Style Dynamo” in-store and you’ll receive a surprise gift (ooohhh!). Don’t say I don’t give you anything for reading my scribbles.
Head to Boxpark Shoreditch from 25 July to 30 July 2013 to find a new pair of bespoke sunglasses or specs.
